.Hack//G.U. vol. 3: Redemption

It's been a while since I last wrote anything... Well, I'll kick off by discussing the last part of .hack//G.U. a bit.
finally, volume 3! I was waiting for this for a long time. Well to start off, there's basically nothing different from volum
e 2... The graphics are the same, the gameplay is the same, and so on. The only new thing is a new type of dungeon and Breg Epona... But I've gotten used to it.

What I think
Everything's pretty much the same. But it's okay... If you've come to like the game then it's no big deal. Oh wait, there IS a new thing... There's this thing called the "Avatar Awakening", and it replaced the "Divine Awakening". Like Divine Awakening, you need to be a 3-person party to use it. Basically Haseo uses the power of Skeith to attack the enemies, and after that you get to have these things called "Virus Cores". You can then offer a certain amount of these cores to upgrade your Lost Weapons. Also, there's the Xth form. It's a pretty cool form that lets you use Dual Guns (pretty handy for shooting those mosters from afar, especially if they have that annoying shackle and siesta counter), the double trigger (I'm not spoiling that one) and the Lv. 3 Art "Justice". Skeith has also powered up to his 3rd form, which enables you to shoot shots at multiple enemies by holding down the [] button. Now that's awesome.

Now the only thing I didn't like was the part where you get the Xth form in the middle of the game, and the fact that you use Skeith in his 3rd form once and only once (I think; in any case he'll only have ONE important battle). But I still enjoyed the game anyway.
One more thing, you'll never be able to enjoy this game if you've never played volumes one and two. Like duh! It would be ridiculous to be able to completely enjoy volume three even if you've never played volumes one and two. That's common sense.

It's not the best game around, but it's definitely one of my personal favorites. It's got an interesting storyline and, although somewhat dull, has interesting gameplay. If you're a fan of the .hack series, or if you've played volumes 1 and 2, you definitely MUST play this.

  • Hm, based on the game, I would rate it 6.7. But personally, I rate it 8.0! Why? Because for me, it's easy to forget all the flaws (The sometimes dull battle system and the repetitve dungeons and such) because the game itself is exciting. =D
